It’s not greatness that the Raptors expect from young point guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. when he gets the rare opportunity to make a significant contribution.
Coach Nick Nurse just wants a little bit more than he might get from Malachi Flynn or Dalano Banton: an incremental improvement that will help Toronto’s depth, and maybe save a minute or three from workhorse starter Fred VanVleet.
Nothing spectacular, just a wee bit more.
“I think that both Malachi and Dalano have done decent at times, but I’m just kind of looking to see if we can’t (upgrade a bit) there — that’s it,” Nurse said Friday.
