The phenomenon known as “load management” in the NBA these days is not limited to individual players, and it’s causing coaches some angst as the season progresses.
Mindful of giving the entire squad days to rest and get treatment — rather than giving individual players the odd game off during difficult weeks in a year — coaches have had to revise long-held practice schedules. There is less time in the gym, more time in film and off-court sessions with players — all things that can frustrate coaches who want more hands-on time on the floor.
