Raptors shut down Sixers with best defensive effort of the season

PHILADELPHIA—The impossible is now just the improbable.

With all their trademark characteristics in place and with a roster missing one of its vital pieces, the Raptors beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103-88 Monday to get back into their first-round NBA playoff series.

The win, fashioned with a dominant defensive game start to finish, cuts Philadelphia’s lead in the best-of-seven series to 3-2 with Game 6 at what should be a violently loud Scotiabank Arena on Thursday.

There is still much work to be done but the Raptors have proved they are not going to go quietly and will force the favoured Sixers to summon the heart to take the series.
