Jeff Dowtin Jr. has proven himself to be a capable NBA player — his coaches love him, his teammates respect him and his on-court demeanour belies his relative inexperience.
Now it’s up to the Raptors front office to conjure up the roster machinations necessary to keep him around for the end of the season, and for however long the team’s playoff life exists.
Dowtin is nearly at the end of the NBA eligibility that goes with the two-way contract he signed before the season began.
He’s got four games left before reaching the maximum allowable 50 games in the NBA — he could have played an unlimited number of G League games — and that’s not enough to carry him to the end of the season.
