In another disappointing showing, the United States pulled out a narrow three point victory over France. Klay Thompson finally found his shot, leading the Americans with 30 points on 7/13 shooting from behind the arc. Nando de Colo, a former Raptor, led France with 18 points and 5 assists.
The US’ poor defense was on full display, American defenders would frequently ball watch and allow their man to slip to the basket on baseline cuts. Despite the absence of Tony Parker, France’s guard play is what guided them throughout much of the game. Both Thomas Heurtel and de Colo were excellent both on the drive and in the pick and roll.
