Nigel Hayes is a supremely confident basketball player, and he’s also a realistic young man who understands exactly the opportunity that has presented itself.
He’s on a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors and spent Saturday afternoon at Mississauga’s Hershey Centre, playing in a G League game before flying to New York to join the NBA squad because he knows the more he plays, the more people will see him and the more chances he’ll get to stick in the big league.
“When I’m out there on the court, when I’m given opportunity, I’m not only playing for them,” he said of the Raptors, who signed the six-foot-eight forward to a 10-day deal on Tuesday.
