Raptors’ Fred VanVleet facing thumb surgery

Fred VanVleet’s absence from the Raptors’ lineup will be for longer than anticipated.

According to a report on The Athletic website, VanVleet’s injured left thumb will require surgery and keep him out for five weeks, instead of three as the team originally announced on Monday.

Raptors guard Fred VanVleet, turning the corner on Malcolm Brogdon of the Bucks in December, will reportedly need surgery to repair his left thumb and miss up to five weeks.
