NEW YORK—Pascal Siakam’s ascent in the basketball world has hit another pinnacle.
The 25-year-old Raptors forward, in just his fourth NBA season, has been named a starter for the league’s annual all-star game next month in Chicago, the league announced Thursday.
Siakam finished second among Eastern Conference forwards and will be making his all-star debut just four years after playing in what was then known as the D League.
The six-foot-nine native of Cameroon is averaging career highs in points (23.5), rebounds (7.7) and assists (3.5) per game for the 30-14 Raptors.
The Raptors have now had an all-star starter for every game since 2015, the longest streak for any team in the league.
