Raptors fans looking to make an extra buck by selling glossy copies of this year’s roster during Monday’s championship parade tried to tug on potential buyers’ heartstrings with their sales pitch.
“The team could be different next year,” they shouted to passers-by in an attempt to boost sales.
The crowd didn’t really need to be reminded that the team, which won the city’s first NBA championship last week, could change dramatically when free agency begins less than two weeks from now. That’s when Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard will be free to choose his own path, one that Raptors fans hope will lead back to Toronto rather than, say, Los Angeles.
