Ian Newbould was surprised over the weekend with an email from Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment that popped into his inbox.
Days after he learned his upcoming Raptors tickets would be refunded because of the provincial government’s decision to limit capacity at Scotiabank Arena, he got the email promoting a limited amount of seats for sale.
“I thought, ‘Oh, that’s odd,’ ” Newbould said. “So I just went to the site and there were my tickets, there were my seats.”
Newbould, whose tickets for Monday night’s game against the Orlando Magic were eventually purchased by someone else, bought a half pack of tickets to the Raptors at the beginning of the season, which was supposed to get him into 16 or 17 games.
