Norm Powell can offer a unique perspective to the DeMar DeRozan Experience because he lives it every day in Toronto Raptors practice when he has to guard the most explosive scorer in the NBA right now.
Powell pushes his teammate, or tries to; he bodies him and contests his shots and attempts to make life difficult.
Doesn’t really work.
“It doesn’t matter if you have a hand in his face, he’s shooting his shot, you’re not adjusting his shot,” Powell marvelled after another workout at the team’s training facility Monday.
“So if you block it, you block it but he knows his angles on his fadeaways and stuff like that, he’s always making his shot more difficult (in practice) than it has to be (in games).
