The Raptors signed shooting guard Paul Watson Jr. to a two-way contract Wednesday, hours after waiving point guard Shamorie Ponds.
The 25-year-old Watson had started the season with Toronto’s G-League affiliate, Raptors 905, averaging 18.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in 13 games. But he signed a 10-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 6, played 17.5 NBA minutes while managing two rebounds, three assists and a steal.
He was released by the Hawks and rejoined the Raptors on the last day NBA teams could sign players to two-way contracts. Watson was in the 905’s starting lineup on Wednesday night for their game against the Capital City Go Go.
