Sunday afternoon’s Raptors-Pistons showdown might have been appointment viewing for basketball fans north of the border, but it may only have been the third-most important basketball game for Detroit-area sports this weekend.
Number one might have been the Big Ten tournament championship game, which pitted Michigan against Michigan State, their cross-state rival and the alma mater of former Raptors star Morris Peterson. Michigan State claimed the conference title with a 65-60 win.

And the NBA game might not even have outranked the state high school championship game between University of Detroit Jesuit and Lincoln High School from suburban Ypsilanti.
