Pierce three-pointer puts Raptors down three games to Wizards

WASHINGTON—The joy of November and December is long gone; those nights of explosive offence and shots falling and wins piling up are but a distant memory to many.

The Raptors’ season is near completion, a disappointing end to a year of promise and expectation will soon be upon them and a long summer approaches.

Paul Pierce, he of the “it” comment that ignited a day or two of controversy a week ago, thrust the dagger into the hearts of the Raptors, drilling a three-pointer with about 16 seconds left that lifted the Washington Wizards to a 106-99 victory over Toronto on Friday night, and in all likelihood ended the Raptors season.
