LOS ANGELES—As the post-practice food spread was being rolled into the gym and recuperative Smoothies were being handed out to his teammates, OG Anunoby was testing his fractured finger.
He and teammates Svi Mykhailiuk, Yuta Watanabe and Armoni Brooks were playing a series of two-on-two games under the watchful eyes of a couple of Raptors assistant coaches and members of Toronto’s medical staff.
It wasn’t a major exam for Anunoby — that will come when he gets into full-on contact situations — but it was a significant step in his return from an injury that has been bothering him for weeks and has kept him out of the last 11 Raptors games.
