It’s been said more than once by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment insiders over the past few years: The place hasn’t been the same since Tim Leiweke vacated the premises in 2015.
And maybe that’s not surprising. Leiweke was a one-off of an outsized character, a carnival barker of big visions who brought aboard Masai Ujiri and Brendan Shanahan and, in the matter of a couple of years at the helm, promptly split. How could the place be the same in his absence?
