Jerry Krause, architect of Bulls dynasty, dead at 77

Krause made early decision to pluck Phil Jackson from the Continental Basketball League and make him an assistant coach.

Jerry Krause, the general manager who helped guide the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships, died Tuesday. He was 77.

Krause was the team’s general manager from 1985 to 2003 and put the pieces in place around Michael Jordan that turned the Bulls into a dynasty.

A finalist for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this year, Krause also worked as a scout for a handful of major league baseball teams after leaving the Bulls.
