Our Staff Writer Alexander Slamen provided a fine analysis of the Toronto Raptors’ latest player signing, Jarrod Uthoff.
I’m going to indulge in a little crazy talk. Uthoff might be the replacement for James Johnson, not merely another contender for a backup power forward spot.
Having watched some film of him, he’s got the length, though not the bulk, to play the 4. Instead of asking him to find some space among the trees under the hoop, I’d rather this guy be assigned to cover the opponents’ most troublesome small forward.
Jarrod looks to have the mobility and footwork, and surely the size, to cool off the likes of Kyle Korver of the Hawks, or Orlando’s Evan Fournier (both of whom are listed as shooting guards…whatever).
