Pascal Siakam furrowed his brow and shook his head, taking visible offence to a question from a reporter. And there are those who’ll understand why.
“A couple of years ago the Raptors surprisingly won the NBA championship,” was the gist of the preamble to a reporter’s question near the end of a Thursday Zoom call.
Siakam did not react happily: “What do you mean surprisingly? What does that even mean?”
First, let’s agree on a few fundamentals. Reporters sometimes ask dumb questions; I’ve certainly stammered through my share. Players and fans are well within their rights to call reporters out for such crimes against common sense.
