Dwane Casey did not have to dig deep into history to find a cautionary tale to illustrate to his Toronto Raptors that resting on laurels is a rather foolhardy thing.
He took them back a whole 24 hours, to a 29-point thumping administered by the San Antonio Spurs to the presumptive title-contending Golden State Warriors.
It was one of his stories that no matter what’s happened in the past, it means little in real time.
“The way (the Warriors) got embarrassed, it should be a wakeup call for anybody, that anybody can beat in this league at any time, at any place,” Casey said Wednesday night.
