It is one of the great problems with sports that we tend to harp too much on what athletes aren’t and what they can’t do, instead of appreciating what they are and what they can do.
It’s unfair and unrealistic and, really, it can take joy away from celebrating the excellence of the men and women we watch perform.
We want slower players to be faster, weaker players to be stronger, and far, far too often ask those who can’t do something why they can’t do it, rather than concentrating on what they do so very, very well.
