The money was nice, money is always nice, and the chance to home around family, friends and familiarity wasn’t anything to sneeze at, either.
But it was the chance — a legitimate opportunity to earn something he desires greatly — that led Brady Heslip to training camp with the Toronto Raptors.
He’s been down this road once before but only as training camp fodder with the Minnesota Timberwolves, no real shot at sticking on a full roster, basically a month-long workout session with an inevitable result.
This is different, though. This time there is a spot to fight for and like any self-respecting athlete, Heslip just wants a chance to prove himself.
