20 years ago, young Toronto Raptors star Vince Carter was crowned king of the air

OAKLAND—The judges were out of their seats, the fans were out of their seats, the other NBAers sitting courtside were rolling around in amazement.

Vince Carter flew to the top of the NBA world last night with a bevy of incredible performances to win the all-star weekend slam dunk competition.

“He’s definitely incredible, there’s nothing else you can say about Vince, “ said Houston’s Steve Francis, one of five young NBA talents Carter vanquished before a sold-out house of nearly 20,000 here.
