Nurse replaces Dwane Casey, who won NBA Coach of the Year after leading Toronto to a franchise-record 59 wins last season but was fired after being swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the playoffs.
Casey was hired by the Detroit Pistons yesterday.
Nurse has been on Toronto's staff since 2013 serving as an assistant coach. Prior to that, he served as the head coach of the G-League's Iowa Energy and Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
