The Lightning are pulling away, the Bruins are coming on strong, Matthews has been injured and the Toronto Maple Leafs have won frequently of late only because of the amazing Freddie Andersen. Other than one game against Carolina, the offense has dried up.
That’s a negative way of looking at things. It’s realistic, but it doesn’t really do the Leafs justice. The Leafs are tenth overall in the NHL and likely to climb higher. Auston Matthews is back, and Mitch Marner looks to be taking his game to the next level. Freddie Andersen is playing like a Vezina candidate.
