This past weekend the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament began, and the unofficial tryouts for the U20 World Junior Championship teams are under way.
Canada fell to Russia 4-3 in a shootout yesterday, after Niagara IceDogs star and 2018 draft pick Akil Thomas tied the game in the third.
In other opening games, Sweden mopped the floor with the Americans 6-1, Czechs beqt the Swiss 6-2, and Finland continued the theme by beating Slovakia 6-1.
Canada faces Finland later today.
