The AHL leading Toronto Marlies hosted the Rochester Americans at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, April 16th, 2016.
The first period was one where both teams traded some solid chances. Antoine Bibeau had a strong period, making the big saves when needed. Toronto, on their powerplay, had the better chances to beat Nathan Lieuwen to extend their lead but the Americans' goalie had a solid first as well.
There weren't many big hits or pace-changing plays in the first period but a solid period all around. "There was some good and some bad, not the full complete game I would have liked to have seen today," said head coach Sheldon Keefe.
