The Toronto Marlies are hot and firing on all cylinders – and what better time to catch fire than the AHL Playoffs.
The Toronto Marlies have won seven straight games to end out the season and squeak their way into a first round as the seventh seed and match-up against second place Grand Rapids Griffins.
“What makes us most happy is that we really did this using our prospects,” Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said in an interview with the Toronto Sun.
Shanahan was referring to the young Marlies such as 18 year-old forward William Nylander, who has record 31 points in 36 games, forward Connor Brown – Marlies leading point getter and Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year candidate, 21 year-old forward Brendan Leipsic and young goaltending prospects Christopher Gibson and Antoine Bibeau.
