Team Sweden beat the Canadians – and Nylander’s teammate Mitch Marner – in a shootout to win the Championship.
The tournament is not that big of a deal here because it runs at the same time as the NHL Playoffs. Regardless, it does feature NHL players and is highly popular in Europe.
The Swedes not only won the tournament, but they prevented a three-peat by Canada – which is somewhat disappointing, but really, I don’t really care either way. Besides, when you lose 2-1 in a shoot-out and your goalie made over 40 saves, you pretty much just lost a coin-flip.
