Stephane Robidas is now a consultant for the Toronto Maple Leafs while the remaining year of his contract gradually fades into Leafs history. There has been speculation all along on Robidas’ situation being partial fiction, though not proven.
Today, Joffrey Lupul conveniently failed his physical, casting the same cloud of doubt over the remainder of his contract. Don’t expect a giant amount of cap relief because that would do more harm than good to the Leafs, and like Robidas last year Lupul will likely end up on IR, not LTIR.
What the Leafs have are two veteran players making more than they should and who would provide a negative impact on the ice if they were playing.
