Toronto Maple Leafs: When A Win Is Really a Loss

It is more correct to say that Freddie Andersen won. The overworked goalie has now entered both the Vezina and the Hart Trophy debates, by virtue of his Dominic Hasek-like play over recent months. The Toronto Maple Leafs have not one, but two, separate winning streaks this season where they played terrible defense and happened to win a whole bunch of games because of their goaltending.

(Note to my fellow Millennial Readers: You will notice how I used the preposition “because of” when giving a reason for the Leafs wins, rather than saying the embarrassing phrase “because goalie.
