Michal Neuvirth has been released from his PTO with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It was a rough training camp for Neuvirth. When the Leafs arrived in Newfoundland for the start of camp, Neuvirth had the chance to grab the backup spot.
That was until, he got injured. He was set to play in one of the preseason games against the Ottawa Senators, but he couldn’t. As time went on, it looked more likely that Michael Hutchinson would win the backup job.
But Neuvirth was a fighter. He returned to the lineup to face the Buffalo Sabres in a home-and-home series, where he allowed two goals on 22 shots, and looked pretty good in net.
