Assuming the Toronto Maple Leafs want to give their younger goalies more time in the minors – whether it’s the American Hockey League or the East Coast Hockey League – they’re going to need a new backup.
That’s where Jhonas Enroth comes in. Well, in fairness to Enroth, he could actually be the Toronto Maple Leafs starter.
Here’s a look at Enroth over the last five seasons at 5v5.

Enroth has had a cap hit of $1.25M for each of the past three seasons on two different contracts. His limited action (16 games) for the Los Angeles Kings isn’t going to help him get much of a raise, but the ability to get into more games and showcase himself more might be worth just as much as a dollar raise to Enroth.
