Here are four of my thoughts on the situation because there hasn’t been enough dialogue.
Your name is William Nylander. Your competitive and confident nature has separated you for your whole life from your peers while playing hockey. You entered the league a year ahead of the other two highly talented rookies that together have been dubbed the building blocks of one of the National Hockey League’s most historic franchises, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After two full seasons, your stats are in the same range as these two other players. You turn on the television and every media outlet has said “Matthews will write his own cheque when it comes to free agency” and “Marner is a 9 million dollar player”.
