The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t getting Steven Stamkos – and they shouldn’t even be chasing him.
The Leafs are on track for a proper rebuild; taking the time to draft, develop and evaluate what they need and what they already have.
What good is Steven Stamkos at the beginning of a rebuild? Not much good at all. Getting Stamkos right now would waste what’s left of his best years while the Toronto Maple Leafs border on the outside of the playoffs with lower draft picks. That’s not what Toronto needs – nor is it what Toronto Maple Leafs fans were promised.
