Coming shortly after the signing of seven players at once last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced this afternoon that had signed Matt Read to a Professional Tryout Offer. The 33-year-old forward will be attending Leaf camp in September to compete for one of the team’s last five open forward spots.
Read is an interesting case as a player.
Jumping onto the scene in the 2011-12 season with the Philadelphia Flyers, Read produced an impressive 24 goals and 47 points as a rookie, which led all rookies in goals and placed him fourth in the points race.
