“Nobody heard from GM Lou Lamoriello much when he was New Jersey, but the word is he has been pretty aggressive working the phones since he arrived in the Toronto Maple Leafs’ camp this summer. After signing Daniel Winnik to a three-year deal in the off-season, he’s one of the names that has emerged as being available” (Ottawa Sun)
Winnik is currently sitting with eight points in 25 games this season, but it’s his non-scoresheet play that usually generates attention. Winnik is known as a 200 foot player who excels at killing penalties.
