Toronto Maple Leafs Rudy Migay Passes at 87: Reflections On a Legacy

At the passing of Rudy Migay, I am afforded a unique opportunity to engage with an unexplored legacy. Migay, 87, began his pro hockey career with Pittsburgh’s minor league Hornets in 1948-49. For the next two seasons, he shared his time with the Hornets and the Toronto Maple Leafs. From 1952-53 to 1956-57, Migay played solely for the Maple Leafs, and in the three seasons before he transitioned from player to coach, he shared his time with the Maple Leafs and Rochester Americans. Migay served as a scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins beginning in 1967-68, and he ended his career as a scout for the Buffalo Sabres in 2001-02.
