Much like last season, it were the rookies who stole the show in a shut-out win over the New York Islanders. In front of their fathers, both Travis Dermott and Justin Holl scored their first NHL goal. The Toronto Maple Leafs are now riding a three-game winning streak, which they hope to extend against the New York Rangers tonight.
The New York Islanders came to Toronto looking for some redemption after losing against the Florida Panthers the night before. Those intentions, however, seemed deep away as they showed little offense and allowed the Toronto Maple Leafs to shoot on goal 50 times.
