Scott Harrington was brought in during the Phil Kessel swap, but was never very high on the Toronto Maple Leafs prospect chart. What the Leafs essentially did with the Rychel trade was deal a fringe-maybe-never NHLer for an actual NHL player.
Rychel spent 32 games (nine points) in the NHL last year and 37 games (27 points) with Lake Erie in the AHL. He also appeared in 17 games en route to winning the Calder Cup with the Monsters, chipping in six points during the playoff run.
What Rychel is going to give a team is depth.
