With the 182nd over pick the Maple Leafs selected Nikolai Chebykin from HK MVD Balashikha in the seventh round of the 2016 NHL draft.
With their final pick of the 2016 NHL draft the Toronto Maple Leafs went back to Russia and grabbed forward NIkolai Cebykin from the Russian junior league.
In his second year in the MHL Chebykin scored 13 goals, 22 assists in 39 games. He was the 50th ranked european skater by NHL central scouting.
A big framed skater, standing 6'3" right now and weighing in just over 200lbs, Chebykin may be more of a project than other players selected by the Maple Leafs in this draft, especially if they can get him over and into their system.
