Rosen has Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer listed as a potential piece of a trade for this season, for this reason:
“Goalie on an expiring contract whose future doesn’t appear to be in Toronto. He’ll get moved.” (NHL.com)
Reimer definitely doesn’t have a future in Toronto beyond this season – and he shouldn’t really want one considering he’s a guaranteed backup given Bernier’s deal – but I’m not convinced he’s a surefire move.
If you look around the league there aren’t any teams that need a goaltender right now, nor does it seem like a starting spot will be opening up this year.
