After scoring two goals in game one, Matthews continued his multi-point scoring streak in the following games with a goal and an assist against Ottawa; and two goals and two assists against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Put differently, Matthews has three consecutive multi-point games to kick off the 2017/18 season and he doesn’t even have Nylander on his wing yet due to contractual issues.

This was partially overshadowed by John Tavares earning his first hat trick as as Leaf.
