Lupul has the Toronto Maple Leafs stuck with $5.25M in salary cap debt for the next two seasons and I’d wager they would have liked to trade him for free rather than Jonathan Bernier to create the cap space they wanted.
Unfortunately, there are no likely suitors for Joffrey Lupul and unless Lamoriello calls in a favor to a local mafia group it’s likely that Lupul won’t find his way on to LTIR at the start of the season – though there’s a high probability he gets himself there eventually all by himself.
So where does that leave Lupul for the opening night of the Toronto Maple Leafs season?
