After a strong win over Vancouver, the Toronto Maple Leafs had a chance to build their momentum as January continued. Instead, the Maple Leafs played arguably their worst game of the year in a 4-0 misfire against the Nashville Predators.
The offence looked off and Michael Hutchinson was placed in front of the cannon fire from one of the best teams in the NHL. The Leafs continue to lose ground on the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are now ten points ahead in the Atlantic Division.
While the Maple Leafs have a fairly easy opponent coming up (New Jersey), this would have been a great statement win for the Leafs, and it turned into a poor performance on all fronts.
