I’m all for individual matchups and battles, but hockey’s a team game and tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs will play the Oilers.
That’s the storyline, at least, that’s what it should be instead of two generational talents playing each other in a ‘fierce’ rivalry, let’s kill that notion.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t be excited about two very skilled players playing against each other, but I see very little of a rivalry between these two, more just a competitive spirit.
That’s what it is, there’s no animosity.
Heck, to me, there’s more of a rivalry (if we’re boiling it down to individual player matchups) between Nazem Kadri and McDavid, you all know that.
