Logically, the attention of fans, media, and Toronto Maple Leafs management are mainly focussed on the renewal of the contracts of respectively Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Media can’t speculate enough; what will their contracts look like, will either one of them be traded, will either one be offered sheet?
While Matthews and Marner keep making headlines, the pending contracts of Andreas Johnsson and Kasperi Kapanen linger in the shadows. Both now have a cap friendly contract. Kapanen is still on his ELC and Johnsson signed a 1-year deal with a value of $787,500 last summer.
Most likely, one of their rights will be traded during the offseason in return for some draft picks.
