The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night, playing a solid game and putting to bed their recent run of poor play.
The game against the Sabres was a good one, but the Leafs were still short handed.
Jake Gardiner and Travis Dermott both missed the game, as they are, and have been for a while, out with back and should injuries, respectively. Frederik Gauthier also missed the game with a foot injury.
While other teams certainly struggle with injuries, and teams are expected to be deep enough to overcome them, the fact is that injuries play a big part in team success.
