Toronto Maple Leafs: Dubas Promises Nylander No Trade

After an extremely long holdout (Nylander was the first RFA player under the modern rules to take his holdout to the max) the Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander finally came to a deal only minutes before he’d have been unable to play this year.

And now that they’ve signed him, they are definitely not trading him.

The deal, which pays Nylander a cap hit of $6.9 million dollars is extremely reasonable, and met with near universal acclaim. Considering that Dion Phaneuf was signed for a $7 million dollar cap hit over four years ago, I don’t know how anyone could complain about this.
