The Brandon Wheat Kings were one of the top teams in the WHL this past season and a big part of that success goes to the strong two-way play of Pilon.
Pilon, a native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, played for the Beardy Blackhawks of the Saskatchewan Minor Hockey Association in his midget minor draft year where he played in 32 games and recorded eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points. That same year, he was drafted third overall by the Lethbridge Hurricanes – where he appeared in two games.
The following year, the 16 year-old played 57 games as a rookie, and scored five goals while assisting on 23 and tallying 28 points.
